About us
The Shed DMV’s mission
To provide artists - of all levels and from every walk of life - the space, resources, time, and opportunity to create, collaborate, learn, teach, and grow.
This mission begins with community.
A welcoming atmosphere to gather with like-minded individuals to create something unique; an inherent culture of respect, support, humility, and ambition that allows everyone's perceived strengths and weaknesses to contribute to progress as a whole.
Being a part of the artistic fabric that’s been thriving here for decades brings us so much joy; we’re all artists as well. In our free time, we perform, create, promote, produce, and more - all with the aim of adding our energy and vibe to the culture of this region’s tapestry. For us to be able to provide a space where other members of our DMV community can do that as well is the icing on the cake.
We are extremely proud to partner with local non-profit organizations, schools, and venues to provide pro bono and discounted equipment, rehearsal space, and services whenever we can, as often as we can. All of the artwork, photography, installations, and millwork were conceived, created, and produced by local artists and craftsmen.
Community. It’s the fabric of our society. It’s the fabric of The Shed DMV. And we hope that you’ll become a part of ours.
If you’re looking to partner with us, we’d love to connect. Reach out to us here. Happy shedding.

Our founder
The Shed is musician-owned and operated. Built and designed in 2022 by Jauvon Gilliam, the principal timpanist of the National Symphony, our mission aligns with Jauvon’s passion for paying it forward and creating lasting social change through the power of the arts.
“I wanted to create a place where people from all walks of life and artistry levels can have a place to collaborate, cultivate, and create…because it’s in those moments of community where the magic truly happens.”
